Church of the Epiphany
104 Epiphany Court
Amherst, VA 24521
Rev. Canon Charles H. Nalls
Services are Sunday at 11:00 am
Bible study Sunday at 12:45 pm and Wednesday at 10:30 am.
We are an Anglican Church and are part of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States of the ACC.
I am not one to close the church, particularly during this holy season. However, given the President’s briefing last night, I have to make some difficult calls. If the palms arrive, I will bless them outside and put them on a table in front of the church for folks to come up and pick up, one person at a time.
Weather permitting, I will give a short homily outside from the steps. Given the modeling, I think it would be irresponsible of me to bring people inside at close quarters.
I’ll play Easter Sunday by ear, but I think it may be an outdoor service at best. I will consecrate new reserve Sacrament at the vigil on Saturday which I will do in the chapel. I am trying to figure out how to video Morning and Evening Prayer as well.
Wednesday Evening prayer in the church is canceled.
I am not doing this in response to the governors’ latest pronouncements although I do note that the state police and what looks to be natural resources officers are already enforcing the 8:00 p.m. curfew and other restrictions in and around Amherst.
I am taking these actions in response to our president’s latest warnings, as I certainly trust him and his team and not a governor who has deemed abortion clinics “essential”.
Prayers for one and all.
